Earnings Week Starts Tomorrow. BlackRock Is Wound Into It.

The banks report Tuesday and Wednesday, and the four-hour charts split the financials. BlackRock is the long: four timeframes agree and the range is wound as tight as the terminal measures, two days before it reports. Costco's short from Friday holds. The XLF bounce is a buy. Wells Fargo, UnitedHealth and Morgan Stanley go into their prints on red lights. BlackRock's window top at $1,078.50 is the number.

Corrected, Monday 12 October. The first edition of this brief was built from daily charts by mistake. It has been rebuilt on four-hour charts, the timeframe every brief trades. The Intuitive Surgical, CRISPR, Reddit, Alphabet and Intellia shorts are withdrawn: Intuitive's four-hour light is red, and the other four were not captured on the four-hour.
If You Read Nothing Else
BuyBlackRock long, full size, only on a dip back into its window. Green light. Reports Wednesday before the open.
SellCostco short, half size. Friday's short holds: still under its line before the bell.
BuyXLF long, half size. The financials fund bounced off two buy signals and sits inside its window.
WaitTesla and RTX shorts, half size. Both sit just past their windows. The entry is a bounce.
SkipIntuitive Surgical. Coiled under its line, but the four-hour light is red.
Market Update
Riyadh Under Fire

A Houthi strike on Riyadh's main airport on Saturday killed at least 12 people and wounded about 300, the deadliest attack on Saudi Arabia in more than a decade. The group claimed more strikes on the airport on Sunday. Riyadh has vowed a decisive response, and Trump said the US is weighing whether to join the Saudi offensive. That puts Gulf supply risk back in play with the 10-year already near 5.24%.

Bonds and stocks move together at 0.5 on single stocks, over the 0.35 line where the terminal treats them as one trade, while the index charts read them as unrelated at 0.01 to 0.04. Longs carry a 1-point headwind.

Better, and the index panel says so. It reads Confirming, +3 of 8, and the stock panel Neutral, +2. 34.9% of stocks sit above their 50-day average, up from 31.9% on Friday, and 47.7% above their 200-day, up from 46.7%. The McClellan oscillator reads 43.7 on the stock charts, up from +26.8. Our own breadth engine, run at 02:08 CEST Saturday on its watchlist, agrees: advance/decline 1.74, McClellan +26.4. The stock panel still flags a divergence.

Before The Bell · Two Reporters Crossed Over

Ten stocks on this scan carry a pre-market print. Two crossed their cost line upward before the bell: Wells Fargo and UnitedHealth, both reporting Tuesday. Morgan Stanley and Spotify moved further past their windows, and XLF drifted just over the top of its own. Price drifting across a line in a thin pre-market tape decides nothing. Same side of the line as Friday's close: trade as written. Other side: wait for the first four-hour close after 15:30 CEST. The pre-market price against every cost line is in the members' half.

If you watch one, watch BlackRock. It is the only green light on the scan, its record range sits entirely above zero, and four frames agree. Costco has a working light and a fair price today, but nothing behind it is wound.

BlackRock · Window Top
$1,078.50

BlackRock closed Friday at $1,081.88, $3.38 over the top of its entry window. The cost line sits at $1,057.35. At $1,078.50 or lower the long qualifies at full size. Above it, you are paying for a move that has not happened yet, two days before the company reports.

You can check this against the tape yourself, which is why it sits on the free side of the gate. The exit and the targets do not.

What The Words Mean

Cost line (the anchor) · the volume-weighted price large money actually paid over the current swing. Everything in this brief is measured as distance from it. Buy near it and you are paying what they paid. Buy far above it and you are paying their profit.  Entry window · how far from the cost line a new entry can still be sensibly priced. Inside it, the entry is fairly priced. Past it, the move has already run and you wait for a pullback.  Compression · how tightly the range has wound, from 0 to 100%. High means the next move should be a big one. It says nothing about direction, and it never overrides a shut window.  Confirmation · how many independent readings agree, and across how many timeframes. Higher on both counts is better.  Record · the average result per signal in units of risk, where being stopped out is exactly −1.00. Always published with the number of finished signals behind it, and measured over the same history the settings were chosen on. Below 20 finished signals no rate is published. A short record is not a verdict on the chart, only on what can be measured yet.  Trend light · green means full size, amber means half, red means no new entry however good the chart looks. A chart with no light yet, because its record is still being built, is sized at half. The cushion is how close the light is to changing.

Readings captured Monday 12 October 2026 between 11:24 and 11:33 CEST from the IVT v14.4 terminal, on four-hour bars. Prices marked pre-market are extended-hours prints. US exchanges open at 15:30 CEST. Cost lines and window edges are derived from the terminal's published percentage distances. Index levels are CFD feeds and differ from the cash index and your futures contract. Support and resistance levels are read off the chart and are approximate. This edition replaces one built earlier the same morning from daily captures.

Records are in-sample and forecast nothing. No rate is published on fewer than twenty finished signals, and the sample size is printed beside every one. Wells Fargo and UnitedHealth report Tuesday and BlackRock and Morgan Stanley Wednesday, all before the open. Check Tesla's and RTX's report dates before holding through one.
