Fourteen of seventeen stocks traded lower overnight, and most of them slid back toward the price large money paid. Disney closed over its cost line, killing yesterday's short, and printed nine cents above it in the night. That makes it the long. EnerSys carries the widest cushion on the scan. Constellation fired its trigger at the close. Disney's cost line at $104.08 is the number.
| Buy | Disney long, half size. Turned bullish on the close that voided yesterday's short, and the overnight print sat right on the cost line. |
| Buy | EnerSys long, half size. Pulled back from a sharp rally to just above its cost line, with the deepest cushion on its trend light anywhere on the scan. |
| Buy | Constellation Energy long, half size. The trigger close came, and the night held above the line. |
| Wait | CECO Environmental. Twelve readings agree across three timeframes, the most on the scan, but the light is red and it gapped 2% away from its line overnight. |
| Skip | The indices. The S&P 500 came back inside its window overnight, but the index charts now read Distribution and the light is red. |
Minutes from the September meeting showed most Fed officials expect another rate increase to be appropriate by year end, after the first hike in more than three years. The 10-year yield touched about 5.36% during the session, its highest since 2002, before a strong auction pulled it back to 5.29%. Bonds and stocks have been moving together for weeks, so a higher yield path is a higher hurdle for every long on this page.
The stock charts still carry Wednesday's close: bonds off, stocks and risk on, +4 of 10.5. The index charts, which update through the night, already read the session after bitcoin's drop. Bonds and stocks tightened back to 0.56 on single stocks, from 0.52, further above the 0.35 line where the terminal treats them as one trade.
| Book | Reading | What it means this morning |
|---|---|---|
| Single stocks Wednesday close | Inflationary Pump · +4 | Stocks and risk on, no tailwind and no headwind for longs. Every Board row is graded on this. |
| Index CFDs overnight, 10:20 CEST | Distribution · +1 | Risk appetite switched off with bitcoin, and longs lose 2 points of tailwind. If bitcoin has not come back by the first four-hour close, the stock charts read the same. That is why everything on the Board is half size. |
| Zurich live, 10:31 CEST | Distribution · +1 | ABB, the one European name captured, reads the overnight book too, with the transition marked deteriorating. |
| Index | The line | What it means this morning |
|---|---|---|
| S&P 500 CFD 7,787.6 | Inside | 1.48% over its cost line overnight, back inside a 2% window it had been past for a week. Red light, improving, −.12R over 26 signals. Confirmation −2. A fair price with no reading behind it. |
| Nasdaq 100 CFD 31,050.8 | Extended | 4.71% over its cost line, still more than twice its window. Red and fading, +.01R over 115. |
| Russell 2000 CFD 2,778.1 | Lost it | Down another 47 points from yesterday's 2,825.5 capture, through the channel line it broke on Monday. 4.37% under its cost line, sellers on 32% of volume. Red. |
| Dow CFD 50,872 | Extended | 2.70% under its cost line, past its 2% window. Red and fading, −.09R over 47. |
One day of confirmation, then gone. The index panel fell back to Neutral, −1 of 8, from Confirming +3. 28.3% of stocks sit above their 50-day average, down from 29.5%, and 45.1% above their 200-day, down from 46.8%. The McClellan oscillator reads −36.4. The index records were never broad, and Wednesday took back the little that had joined.
Seventeen stocks on this scan printed overnight, and fourteen traded below their close. Yields and bitcoin did that. What matters is where the dip left them: twelve sat within 2% of the price large money paid, and five within half a percent. MercadoLibre sat a dollar above its line. Spotify traded 19 cents over its own.
A long that slides back to its cost line overnight is not broken. It is cheaper. The cost line is where the buyers who built the move are flat, and a thin overnight tape testing it tells you little until the regular session votes. So the rule does not change: same side of the line as the close, trade as written. Other side, wait for the first four-hour close after 15:30 CEST.
Two names changed sides. Spotify crossed up through its line, and FuelCell crossed down. Two came back inside their entry windows, JPMorgan and Berkshire, both on red lights. Three moved away: CECO gapped 2% higher, and Broadcom and Dollar General slid further under. The overnight price against every cost line is in the members' half.

Yesterday this was the price where the Disney short stopped being valid. Wednesday closed at $104.78, above it, and Disney traded at $104.17 overnight, 9 cents over. A four-hour close back under $104.08 puts Disney under its line again and takes the long off the Board. Holding above it, the stock is trading at what large money paid.
You can check this against the tape yourself, which is why it sits on the free side of the gate. The buy band, the exit and the targets do not.
Enter your Cantillon Research subscriber email to unlock the complete October 8, 2026 brief: the Disney buy band and exit, the EnerSys and Constellation entries, the overnight price against the cost line for all seventeen stocks, and the full 27-chart scan.
Every Friday the complete brief ships open, with all levels, every execution block and all terminal captures, and no gate anywhere on the page.
Cost line (the anchor) · the volume-weighted price large money actually paid over the current swing. Everything in this brief is measured as distance from it. Buy near it and you are paying what they paid. Buy far above it and you are paying their profit. Entry window · how far from the cost line a new entry can still be sensibly priced. Inside it, the entry is fairly priced. Past it, the move has already run and you wait for a pullback. Compression · how tightly the range has wound, from 0 to 100%. High means the next move should be a big one. It says nothing about direction, and it never overrides a shut window. Confirmation · how many independent readings agree, and across how many timeframes. Higher on both counts is better. Record · the average result per signal in units of risk, where being stopped out is exactly −1.00. Always published with the number of finished signals behind it, and measured over the same history the settings were chosen on. Below 20 finished signals no rate is published. A short record is not a verdict on the chart, only on what can be measured yet. Trend light · green means full size, amber means half, red means no new entry however good the chart looks. A chart with no light yet, because its record is still being built, is sized at half. The cushion is how close the light is to changing.
Readings captured Thursday 8 October 2026 from the IVT v14.4 terminal on four-hour bars that had not yet closed, between 10:20 and 10:40 CEST during the overnight session. US exchanges open at 15:30 CEST. Single-stock regime readings reflect Wednesday's close. Index charts and ABB update live and read the overnight session. Cost lines and window edges are derived from the terminal's published percentage distances. Index levels come from CFD feeds and will differ from your futures contract. ABB trades in Swiss francs on SIX. Trendline levels are read off the chart and are approximate. Copper and Carpenter were not captured this session.
Records are in-sample and forecast nothing. No rate is published on fewer than twenty finished signals, and the sample size is printed beside every one. Earnings dates sit inside the coming weeks for several names on this scan, EnerSys and JPMorgan among them. Check before holding through one.
