Twelve charts, one green light. STMicroelectronics holds it, on the best record in the scan at +.14R across 67 finished signals, and its entry window is nearly spent before the bell. EnerSys armed on Friday's close with the cleanest cost line here, two crossings in 83 bars a side, then gapped straight through its own ceiling overnight. Both facts come from the same three figures, and the brief is mostly about what the gap did to them.
The Federal Reserve raised its target range 25 basis points to 3.75 to 4.00% on Wednesday, unanimously, saying inflation remains elevated. Two days later the Bank of Japan took its own policy rate to 1.25%, the highest since 1995, on a split seven to two vote. Two of the three largest central banks tightened inside 48 hours. Friday's equity tape answered with a technology-only print: the S&P closed up 0.17% at 7,650.50 with two of eleven sectors green, and the equal-weight index gained 0.2% on the week while transports, small caps, industrials and consumer discretionary each closed lower for a fifth straight week.
All three legs read off and strength sits at 0 of 10.5, up from −3 on Friday, so the week's improvement is real and it stops exactly at neutral. The single structural caveat is the bond-versus-equity correlation at 0.48, still above the 0.35 line where bonds stop hedging equities, which is why a long here is sized off its own record rather than off any cover the rest of the book is providing.
One housekeeping note, and it is a large one today. The eight US-exchange captures taken between 10:22 and 10:26 CEST print full risk-off, strength 0 of 10.5, all three legs off, macro −2, leader tied and correlation 0.48. The four index CFD captures taken between 10:27 and 10:28 print speculative, strength +4 of 10.5, risk leg on, macro 0, leader risk and correlation 0.68. Same session, four minutes apart, and the gap is a whole risk leg. The exchange reading governs and this brief uses it throughout, which matches how the bitcoin ETF capture reads: risk leg off, on the same exchange feed. If you open the four index charts in the grid below you will see the other set of numbers on them.
The index closed green on Friday and the average stock did not participate. Breadth reads diverging at −6 of 8 and three of the six columns stepped down again against the prior session.
| Reading | Now | Session change | What it says |
|---|---|---|---|
| Breadth regime | Diverging −6 / 8 | −2 trend | Deepest negative score in the scan |
| Above the 50-day | 27.8% | −2 | Roughly one stock in four is in the uptrend |
| Above the 200-day | 49.5% | 0 | The long-term line is a coin flip and not moving |
| McClellan | −26 | −1 | Net advancers negative and still slipping |
| Summation | −879 | −1 | The cumulative series is below zero, not recovering |
| Divergence flag | Clean | 0 | No washout or breadth-divergence marker fired |
Read together with Friday's two green sectors out of eleven, that is one message twice: the tape's strength is concentrated, and a long taken here is a bet on a specific name rather than on the market carrying it.

Enter your Cantillon Research subscriber email to unlock the complete September 21, 2026 brief: the only green light in the scan and the fourteen cents left in its window, the EnerSys ceiling the overnight gap cleared, and the Disney window that is open while the loudest chart on the page carries no permission.
Every Friday the complete brief ships open, with all levels, every execution block and all terminal captures, and no gate anywhere on the page.
Readings captured Monday 21 September 2026 between 10:22 and 10:28 CEST, from the IVT v14.4 terminal, on four-hour bars that had not yet closed. US exchanges open at 15:30 CEST, so every US-listed chart here shows Friday 18 September's last completed four-hour bar plus a pre-market print, and no trigger on those charts can fire before the open.
The regime block is not identical across the twelve captures and the brief does not pretend otherwise. The eight US-exchange captures taken 10:22 to 10:26 read full risk-off, strength 0 of 10.5, all three legs off, macro bonus −2, leader tied and bond-versus-equity correlation 0.48. The four index CFD captures taken 10:27 to 10:28 read speculative, strength +4 of 10.5, risk leg on, macro bonus 0, leader risk and correlation 0.68. The exchange reading governs throughout this brief, consistent with the Bitwise ETF capture, which sits on an exchange feed and also reads its risk leg off. Breadth is quoted from the exchange captures at −6 of 8; the index captures print −4 and −5 of 8 against different universes.
No company-specific or sector catalyst dated 19 to 21 September was found for this morning's pre-market moves in EnerSys, STMicroelectronics or Rockwell Automation, and none is attributed here. The moves are reported as prices, not as consequences.
Records are in-sample and forecast nothing. No rate is published on fewer than twenty finished signals, and the sample size is printed beside every one. Cost lines, entry windows and implied pre-market deviations are derived from the percentage distances the terminal publishes rather than read off it directly, so treat them as accurate to the nearest cent or index point. Index levels come from cash CFD feeds and will differ from your own index or futures contract, which is why the S&P reading here sits above Friday's cash close of 7,650.50.
Charts are unmodified terminal captures provided for reference, not as entry instructions. Educational content only. Not financial advice. Past results do not predict future ones.
